You sell the category, the system assigns the room.

In a hotel, an aparthotel or a hostel, the guest buys “a superior double”, not room 203. Roombir works that way from the ground up: the category groups interchangeable rooms, the booking engine sells the category and the room is assigned automatically or by the front desk.

How it sells

One category, several identical rooms.

Each category is set up as a pool: ten interchangeable doubles sell as one item, with their price, photos and amenities. When the booking is confirmed, the system picks the room.

  • Automatic assignment that minimizes gaps between bookings or spreads wear across rooms, as you prefer.
  • Or unassigned: the booking goes into the category and the front desk picks the room from the calendar.
  • Assignment repacking to free up gaps when occupancy gets tight.
  • If you also have a suite or a one-of-a-kind cabin, that category sells under its own name in the same property.

A fully booked Saturday

The same day, with and without roombir.

A thirty-room hotel with high occupancy. On the left, what happens with spreadsheets and a separate booking engine. On the right, what the system does.

TodayWith roombir
08:00Three web bookings came in overnight. Someone has to copy them into the spreadsheet and find a room that fits. They landed in the calendar on their own, assigned to the room that leaves the fewest gaps. The front desk sees them on the daily board.
11:30A family wants one more night and their room is taken from tomorrow. The front desk stretches the booking in the calendar and, before letting go, sees the conflict and which free room to move it to.
13:00Housekeeping does not know which rooms are already free. Each room has its status — pending checkout, cleaning, available — and housekeeping updates it from its workspace.
18:00One double is still free and nobody knows whether to lower the price or hold it.Revenue shows the recommendation for that date with the reason in writing. If you accept it, it goes to the booking engine.

What it solves

Built for how a hotel runs.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work for hostels?

Yes, for day-to-day operations: a daily board with arrivals and departures, a workspace for housekeeping and guided tours for rotating staff. Each room type is set up as a category with its capacity.

Can I choose the room myself instead of the system?

Yes. Automatic assignment is optional: you can let bookings come in without a room and assign them yourself from the calendar or the reservations list.

What happens if two people book the last room at the same time?

One of them does not get in. Each night of each room is a unique lock in the database: it is not a check someone can skip, the database itself prevents it.
